I still remember the first time I got the idea for what would eventually become Luma, our signature prickly pear facial oil.
I was walking through my local farmers' market when I saw a bunch of fresh prickly pears in season. I picked up a few (because how could I resist?), brought them home, and started eating one right over the sink — you know, the juicy, messy kind of snack that brings you joy. As I stood there, I thought to myself:
I wonder if these are good for your skin too?
That question sent me down a rabbit hole. And what I found honestly shocked me.
Prickly pear oil — also known as cactus seed oil — is one of the most powerful, nutrient-rich oils in the skincare world. Years ago, it was still relatively unknown in beauty circles. But now, more and more people are waking up to what I discovered back then: this oil is a game changer.
What is Prickly Pear Oil?
Prickly pear oil is a lightweight, non-greasy oil that comes from the seeds of the prickly pear cactus. It's packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and Vitamin E — even more than argan oil.
Here’s what makes it so special:
-
Deep Hydration without clogging pores
-
Restores Elasticity and improves skin texture
-
Naturally Rich in Vitamin K (helps with under-eye circles + redness)
-
Soothes Inflammation for sensitive or stressed skin
-
Supports Collagen Production thanks to its high linoleic acid content
In other words: it’s gentle, powerful, and totally natural. Exactly the kind of ingredient we love around here.
Why We Chose It for Luma
When I first created Luma, I didn’t just want another facial oil — I wanted a ritual.
Something that would nourish your skin and ground you in the moment. Something that felt luxurious but rooted in nature. That’s why prickly pear oil became the heart of the formula.
Years later, it’s still our best-seller. And now, as we relaunch Becalia Botanicals, we’re bringing Luma back — but better than ever. Reformulated with the same signature base and new elevated ingredients like Rosehip CO₂, Sea Buckthorn, and Squalane to boost absorption and skin resilience.
Want First Dibs?
Luma will be available again starting September 22.

Nature has always known what we’re just starting to remember — that healing starts with the earth. Prickly pear oil is proof of that. And I can’t wait for you to experience what it can do for your skin (and your soul).
